Pineapples Now Available In Pine & Redwood!
hand carved wooden Pineapples
"Symbolism of welcome and hospitality surrounds pineapples around the world, thanks to its adventure on the high seas. During colonial days pineapples were procured and gifted as a symbolic gesture of welcome and honor. Also, sailors who returned home from sea would place a pineapple on their doorstep or lamp post to let everyone know they had returned safely."
Check out the different types of wood that are now available with our hand crafted pineapples as well as how to properly water your air plant!
Our Thoughts:
We are revitalizing this beautiful sentiment through hand to heart wood-carved pineapples that can be given as gifts to those you respect, who you'd like to wish safe travels, or as a good-luck charm to anyone entering a new venture in their life. What better gift than this wood-carved planters that represents such a rich colonial history throughout the Caribbean, New World and Europe? These earth friendly sculptures are crafted out of salvaged wood and fitted with a drought resistant air plants. The wood is finally sanded and sealed with a wax finish.
Taking Care of your air plant:
If you are growing them indoors and the air is dry, you will need (at minimum) to submerge the plant in water for 2-3 hours about every two weeks. Otherwise, in a shaded house or unheated home, you can use a soaking mist once or twice a week in summer, once a month in cooler weather. It is really important that you fully shake out all water after soaking to prevent plant rot. If you prefer misting, you will want to remove air plant from wooden base and place on a paper towel. With a mist spay bottle, spay each plant at a minimum of 5 times and a max of 8 times. Leave on paper towel for 30min, give one last shake and place back in wooden base. Use same watering schedule above.

Winston Rylee Q&A with the Spring Arts Collective.
-Sneak Peek-
Featured Artist -- Winston Rylee
Winston Rylee began his love affair with the sea at the age of 5 when his family relocated to Southern California. His passion for all things nautical is what drives much of his work today -- some of it featured here -- ships, deep-sea creatures and salty sea dogs captaining their ships. We caught up with Winston in his working studio in Pasadena, California for a quick Q&A session to find out what drives his creations.
Q: Why did you choose the ocean as inspiration for your work?
A: My grandfather was a pilot, sailor, and woodsman. He instilled within his own children the need for adventure in "the natural world." Mountains, lakes, rivers, and the big blue have always been apart of my internal landscape because of the family I was raised in. After moving from Arizona to Southern California at age 5, I absolutely fell in love with the ocean.

The Beauty of the Process
I am not only in-love with a finished piece of art but also the process in which it was made, the place & tools it was made with, and the humans that puzzle all these facets together. Here is a beautiful portrait of the process.
